Right click Send greyed out in mail client

Hi, I think I am correct in saying for 20 years I have never been able to Right Click on an email in any mail view and Send an email or any other of the menu functions, they are always greyed out whether the email is from within the Domino Domain or external. Does any one know the reason?

Related to Sametime. Are you using Sametime integrated with Notes client?

Yes

What is the relevance of Sametime Rahul?

Hi Mark,
The setting seems to be related to Sametime because of below two reason.
1) If you login to integrated Sametime and right click on any user added in your contact list, you see below options.

These option are similar to the one highlighted by you in screenshot.

2) During installation of Notes Client, if you doesnot allow Sametime to be installed, then you do not have any such option to send email.
Please refer to below screenshot.

Hello Mark,

'Send -> Email' is based on the user being logged into embedded Sametime, with Inbox awareness working.

If the Inbox awareness is not working then, you will see the option Send -> Email is grayed out as shown below.

Note: You see the Sametime Embedded client is working for chat on the right side.

On the Notes client using Embedded Sametime, you may try the following option to eenable INBOX awareness.

1.Exit Notes client.

2.In the Notes client notes.ini, set the following parameter and save the edit to the notes.ini file.
IM_USE_CANONICAL_NAME=1

3.Clear the person cache

(delete <Notes>\<Data>\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.people.impl)

4.Restart the Notes client.

Note: If you are requesting for the Send > Email option to be available when a user is "offline", that would be an enhancement request.

Once the Inbox awareness for Sametime starts working then, you can see the option Send -> Email as shown below.

Once this action is performed it will compose an email to the user.

Thank you.

Ah, thank you Amit and Shrikant.

I did not realise Notes was only capable of using Send > Mail to only Sametime Users. That seems really poor, clearly the best use case is to pick the From data from the highlighted doc and create an email for that. Otherwise the only option is to use Reply to, which often is not what is needed. HCL obviously have their reasons though.

No problem, I will create my own Action Button to do just that.

Thanks for your help.
