I have a “Description” rich text field on a form that contains some text and some Excel attachments. I have created a form that lets me compare two documents using @DBLookup. I need to use the text part from the Description field in that comparison but rich text fields can’t be used in a view.
Is there a way to strip out only the text from the Description rich text field to be used in a view which would in turn allow me to perform an @DBLookup from that ?
If not, if I split the rich text field into two separate fields - one for the text only and the other for files only, how could I copy only the text part into a new field?
@DbLookup works with rich text fields. Fields don’t have to be in a view to fetch their values. And you should be able to use @Text on the lookup result to retrieve just the text. It might be a bit slow; I’m not sure whether it’s going to try to pull data from the attachments. LotusScript might be better faster and more versatile.
