I know there now is a checkbox that allows to upgrade folder design when doing a replace design. In this document: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=upgrade+folder&q2=replace+design&q3=replace+design+note+8&uid=swg21291792&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=all
they mention that the availability of that option is controlled by a setting. Can someone please tell me what this setting is?
Thanks a bunch
Subject: unavailable for all except Mail template
The item will be unavailable until you select Mail85.ntf (or Mail8.ntf) from the list of templates in the Replace Design dialog box.
Subject: OK, but…
We have a template that is used for mail-ins, and there is a lot of DBs using that template. So we’ll have to go and upgrade all folders manually???
Are you an IBM person? I think this feature should be available for all templates. I’d like to request that feature to IBM, but I don’t know where to go… That’s why I’m asking if you work for IBM…
Thanks a lot,
Ben
Subject: “update folders” feature
I believe the code used has mail template specific dependencies, i have forwarded your question to the person who coded the Upgrade Folders feature for a more definitive answer.
Subject: Found a work around
My colleague did some tests and it seems that as long you have “mail8” in the NTF filename (e.g. mail8MailInTemplate.ntf), the option is available.
That is great for us.
Can’t wait to ear IBM’s response though…
Thanks to all for the info
Subject: Update on workaround
My buddy just told me that the tip is actually coming from our IBM rep.
Thanks IBM!
Subject: Upgrade folder is only available…
… to Mail applications, which inherit from the Mail template. If your mail-in applications DOES inherit their design from on the mail templates, then the replace design option is available as long as you select the Mail85.ntf. You may also access the option by opening the application and running the Action - Folder - Upgrade Folder Design option, after the application’s design has been replaced by any the Mail template.
