Renaming internet domain

I am in the process to rename the internet domain name in my PAB.All users have internet address like john.doe@lotus.com.

We plan to move these users to addresses like john.doe@ibm.com.

My problem deals with the transition period.

I mean I want john.doe@ibm.com to still receive emails to his lotus.com address during a transition period.

Should I have two internet adresses in the person document ? Which PAB documents are impacted ?

What about the smtp gateway and DNS configurations ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is what you should do:1) add ibm.com to the global domain document

  1. move the current internet address john.doe@lotus.com to the shortname and add john.doe@ibm.com to the internet address

  2. adjust the MX records for ibm.com so that they point to your SMTP gateway

One important remark is that the shortname field can contain e-mail aliases and is multi-value. The internet address field in a person document is single value and contains the ‘official’ e-mail address as it will be sent out.

You can also update groups and mail-in databases if they have an internet address. But with these docs, you cannot use aliases.
