Rename user and AdminP

I’m writing this just in case there’s any Lotus developers out there - you guys / girls who put together the Rename User bit ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

I’ve been looking at it for two days, searched endlessly through the help and the forums, found information and misinformation here there and everywhere. Just when I think I’ve sorted it out it and got one user successfully changed the next user fails with a whole new series of inexplicable and unhelpful messages like “The new name in the supplied Name Change Request does not match the subject name in the supplied certificate” Try searching that in your kb and forums -it dont turn up no-where

Why is it so difficult - Surely anyone using the Lotus Notes Domino wants to 1. create users. 2. delete users and 3. CHANGE USERS

It should be simple, straight forward, no stuffing around, basic bullet proof function

Except it’s not is it ? The AdminP process is a complete dogs breakfast - so bad your own documentation runs around in circles 4 times then slinks off under a bush and hopes no-one notices where it has gone

I gave up - thats right - 2 days of error messages and I gave up

I created a new user ID file, manually hacked a few ACLS then deleted the old user out of the address book

Thanks Lotus - thanks a whole lot

Solution

The error is generated when the new certifier specified in the Rename tool does not match the certifier specified when completing the move from the Name Move Requests view of admin4.nsf.

To resolve the issue, delete the failed “Initiate Rename in Domino Directory” request and reinitiate the Rename process.
