"Remove Folder" action changed?

We recently migrated to 6.5.1 from 5.0.12. Users are reporting they can no longer delete shared folders and views they created in R5 or new ones created in N6. Their ACL access is Editor, Delete Documents and Create Shared Folders/Views.

If the users access is changed to Designer it works (as would be expected with this level of access), but that is not an acceptable access level. I have been able to determine if the user is also given the ability to “Create Personal Folders/Views”, they are able to remove the folders created in R5 or N6.

Since I no longer have any R5 servers or clients, could someone who does perform a test for me? I would like to know if an R5 user with Editor access, Delete Documents and Create Shared Folders/Views is able to remove a shared folder or view without having to also have the “Create Personal Folders/Views” option selected.

Thanks,

Brad

I don’t know the answer to your question, but have ideas for workarounds.

Is the problem that users have no access to delete views they create? Or is it just that there’s nothing in the Notes UI to let them ask for the view to be deleted?

If the latter, you could work around the problem by adding an agent/action to let them attempt to delete the current view.

If the former, you could use RunOnServer to let users request deletion of specific folders and views, without giving them access to delete any and all folders and views.

It might be that there was a change in the way Notes handles this, to prevent users with “create view” access from deleting views they didn’t create.

I put in a support call to Lotus and the only workaround is to also give the users the ability to “Create Personal Folders/Views” at this time. The problem has been reported to Lotus Software Development per a tech note in the IBM Knowledge Base #1161609
