Relay Problem: Network operation did not complete in a reasonable amount of time

Hi,

I need help. My Domino Server doesn’t relay mails anymore.

If I send a mail from my client to an internet address it says the following in the server console:

Router: Transferring mail to domain 10.200.1.20(host 10.200.1.20[10.200.1.20]) via SMTP

So far, so good, but that’s it. What I am missing is :

Router: Transferred 1 message to 10.200.1.20 (host 10.200.1.20) via SMTP

Instead I am getting a return message from domino after about 15 minutes saying:

Error transferring to 10.200.1.20; Network operation did not complete in a reasonable amount of time; please retry

I checked everything. DNS, ping, Telnet on port 25, everything ok.

Does anybody know what I could try next?

From a prompt on your domino box try:

telnet 10.200.1.20 25

Do you connect to the other host? If you type:

HELO ‘your FQDN’ do you get a response?

Telnet works from the domino. I can write a email to any account. So port 25 and the relay server seem to be ok.

Any other ideas?

I can only assume you have stopped and started Domino?
