Reading in data from a spreadsheet

I have a spreadsheet with data in a whole bunch of cells. What I want to do is somehow get the information from those cells into certain fields on the document.

What’s the best way to do that? Is it even possible?

Thanks!

The easiest way (if this is a one-time thing, not something that needs to be done programmatically) is to create a view whose selection formula includes the form you want to create. Make sure there is a field on the form for each column in the spreadsheet, and set up the view columns in the same order as the spreadsheet columns. Then just import into the view. This will create a new document for each row of the spreadsheet, with the cell values in the correct fields.

If you want to create new documents with information from Excel, you can use build-in solution as Esther suggested.

If you want to add information from Excel to already existing documents, then you must create a LotusScript agent which processes Excel table cell by cell and finds corresponding Notes document to update using a keyword from a cell.

I had a similar LotusScript agent, send me an email so I will try find it if you are interested.

Check on Botstation’s web site for other Excel-related LS agents. Botstation - Code Vault

Hi,Thank you for your exlanations; if you still agree, I would be really VERY interested by your agent to load Notes documents one per line into a spreadsheet, and then doing the update of the notes documents from the modifications in the excel spreadsheet.

Many thanks in advance and have a good day,
