Go into the database properties and on the fourth tab along (the design tab that looks like a set square) put a tick in the box that says “Do not mark modified documents as unread”.

If user has this problem and the value is already checked, uncheck, recheck and you should be good to go. I have had a single user who had this problem after 6.5.4 install and this took care of the problem.
