RCPT-TO or Delivered-To field in raw mail

Hi

I noticed that mailed received on my Domino mail server does not have RCPT-TO or Delivered-To field in the raw mail.

This field is found in MS Exchange/Qmail/SendMail servers. Is there anyway to set this up?

Appreciate any advice and guide.

Thanks.

Did you find the SendTo field? I think that is what you are looking for.

hi gregg

thanks for your reply.

the SendTo field is for outgoing mail?

I’m looking at the in-coming mail which arrived at the domino server.

Thanks.

SentTo is the addressee whether the mail is incoming, outgoing or internal. The entire recipients list is the combination of SendTo, CopyTo and BlindCopyTo.

hi Stanthanks for your reply.

Here’s an example of my problem, hopefully will give a better picture:

say an email is sent to 1@abc.com and cc to 2@abc.com and 3@abc.com

when the mails arrived at the domino server, they 3 mails are exactly identical.

In MS-Exchange, SendMail or Qmail servers, there is an additiona Delivered-To or RCPT-To field to differentiate the 3 copies of the same mail. In each copy the Delivered-To field is different, although the rest are identical, ie To List, CC list, Subject and Contents.

I’m looking at how to enable this additional field in domino.

Thanks.

The difference is that there’s a single store for Exchange, so there has to be something stored to differentiate the “owner”. In Notes, each of the messages is sent to a completely separate store. Since the “owner” is the mail file owner, there is no need to add additional information to the message to indicate who the mail was delivered to.

in order to simply setup, I’ve setup one account which will accept a group of 100 email addreses. Any incoming mail with matching addresses will be delivered to this special account. With such setup, I do not need to setup 100 separate accounts.

however, the problem lies in sorting the mails when retrieving via a email client.

thanks!

your problem is that the field you require (it’s called RECIPIENTS) is removed by the router upon delivery. there is no way (apart from writing a server add-in) to keep the contents of that field.

you might want to check the INetSendTo field, it may still keep something useful but i’m not 100% sure about that one.

You would need to use Domino’s shared mail (transfer and delivery option) to make that work. If all you are using is mail delivery aliases, then you’re pretty much pout of luck, since the “delivered to” is a single, unshared database. A single database per user is almost always a better option.
