The article is really MS buys Groove but I found the Ray Ozzie/CTO statement more interesting…

It’ll be interesting to read everyone’s feedback (or do we finally don’t care anymore?)

So was Ray up in front at Lotusphere knowing all along that his company was going to be purchased by M$? If so, should I feel like I’ve been thrown to the ground and kicked?

Subject: *Nah. He was celebrating the past. It was up to us if we thought he was thinking of the future.

Is this where I insert the Notes is dead comment?

Sorry that was posted many moons ago and by the way permentantly beaten to death…

Ray Ozzie is an old has been. His groove products are crappy and useless by anyones standards. I doubt he’ll be much good inventing anything worthy of his past Notes creation at Microsoft. He’s problably jumping to try and make a quick buck before he retires.

As for Notes being dead. Anyone who makes this comment should have their head examined.

Subject: has been?

Um, I guess Bill Gates there’s some fuel left in the tank since he reports to him

What a load of crap you write.

Whose standards are you judging the products by and which version? A lot of military and enterprise customers for Groove now, and a thriving business partner community, Microsoft isn’t stupid, they’ve made a lot of smart acquisitions in their time.

You also obviously know nothing about Ray to think he is motivated by money, he made his bucks a long time ago.

Think of the resources Ray will now have it his disposal to cotinue building his dreams, some smart people and we all know Ray has a great track record of motivating smart people to create ingenious, chenge the way your work products.

Yes Mr. Tyler, well said! Mr. Ozzie has accomplished much and we all hold a debt of gratitude to him. We are fortunate enough to be at the dawn of great informational things that will require a great deal of creativity.

However, I’m reminded of a Willie Nelson-ism.

“He was in it for the love, be he was not above the money.”

Cheers

Sure, if you want to look foolish…

He’ll be up in Redmond with Gary Devendorf. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bob Balaban ends up there as well. Looks like that is the place to be!http://www.garydev.com/

Subject: funny looking at this old post

where did Bob Balaban end up? IBM!

Subject: …with Rocky Oliver, too!

Subject: Probably the opposite to what you’re thinking…

I guess he’s there to help them work on…

  • The Notes connector for Exchange Servers (for people who wish their Exchange server at least looked more like notes).

  • Migration tools to help Outlook and Exchange users migrate their address book to Notes.

  • NSF and DB2 Compatibility for the Office Suite.
