During the late evening and early morning (between 6pm and 7am), our remoteusers find that it is possible and quite easy for them to dial into our
Lotus Notes email server and access their emails including replicating,
however outside of these times, our remote users are finding that although
they are able to dial-in and reach the Lotus Notes email server, they are
not able to access emails because the connection times out whilst waiting
for the server to respond to requests. A typical error messages received by
remote users is “Server no longer responding”" and “server error.” We have
set up a latop here in the office and created a dial-up connection via trhe
phone line, to troubleshoot and diagnose the replication issue, we have
encountered the same problems as our remote users, where the dial-up
connection completes successfully, but once we are on the network the
problem begins. The problem is somewhat intermittent in that we are able to
begin replication with the Lotus Notes email server at times, but we have
not been successful in completing replication due to the above errors
occuring. We have changed our Remote Access Server for a new one as part of
our trouble shooting process and changed the configuration of the Remote
Access Server, none of which has made any difference the problem appears to
be due to a bottleneck within the network, however our internal email
users have not reported any problems.
