R6 Client on Linux

I copied the Windows installation to my Linux box under the fake windows installation directory. Notes will load up and ask for the password. After entering the password I get a red box error “LookupHandle: null handle”. Any ideas on how to fix this. Has anyone gotten R6 client to work under WINE?

Version of WINE is: wine-20030911

I would recommend checking out the forum. THere are numerous posts. Most of which have people being unsuccess in the R6 world – IBM’s redbook quotes an application which can do it, but that application is only certified for R5 though IBM redbook spoke of R6.

I have read through all of the posts here regarding WINE with no answers found. I am sure it has something to do with the configuration of WINE, but have not found anything yet. CrossOver Office is a last resort, and it does not officially support R6 and unfortunately they will never release a native Linux client.

I feel your pain. Myself (a Linux supporter) opted to use VMWare on my Linux workstation and the VMware virtual pc runs a M$ os. It is not my idle, but I get a better uptime than I do with a native M$ os machine. The only big plus I get with VMware is that it is more similar to my user’s M$ native environment than WINE or a variant of it.

What I like about 6.5 server is that it has Mozilla browser support. Unfortunately you have to have Red Hat Enterprise OS in order to install the server on Linux.
