R5 to R6 server replication and ODS

Hi,I want to place my db(web application) on 2 servers 1 R5 and the other is R6, each server is on 1 location.

Users on R5 creates documents and same for R6 users, the modifications will be replicated on both servers.

My db is R5 designed (no new R6 designed elements)

any idea if this will work ? Do I have to choose to replicate documents only (no design).

If the ODS of my db on R6 server is changed would it be replicated to my R5 server?

This will work fine… The Server to Server keeps everything fine.

The DB on the R6 Server can be ODS 43 via a Compact command and it will replicate fine with the R5 Server.

LocalDomainServers can still be Manager and it all works good.

Thanks Dave,One more concern if the 2 servers have different domains, will I be able to cross cerrtify?

Hi Sam,

Although you’ll be using an R5 server replicating with an LD6 server, the ODS will remain ODS41 on the R5 server and ODS43 on the LD6 server. An R5 server can’t be upgraded to ODS43 (unless you upgrade the server to LD6!).
