Hi, I have several questions regarding the doc ID.
-
If person A sent out an email with person B and C as the recipients, after B and C received the email in their personal mailbox, would the UniversalID of that email be the same? or different?
-
If I copy an email/document from mailbox1 to mailbox2, would the UniversalID of this doc be changed or not?
Basically, we have several persons in one group, and I want to copy the documents under specific folders into a public mailbox. However, the sender may send the same email to different persons in this group, so I don’t want to copy the duplicate ones.
Any suggestion and advice? Thanks in advance.

Yes it would be changed.
The universalid ( sometime called “Document Unique id” ) is unique for ever document . The only documents that share the same universalid are replica copies of a document in another replica of the same database.
I think the best approach to your problem will be to forward all of the documents to a shared mail-box and then have an agent run “on-delivery” that looks for duplicates.
I think that the $Orig field (??) should be the same on all copies of an e-mail so you could try looking at that field as an option to tell if the mail message is already in the shared mail-box.

Hi
Concerning UNID,
when you manually copy a doc from one db to another, it will be different,
BUT, if you do so with an agent, new new unid will be as follow :
newDB-ReplicaID + right(originalUNID, 16)

Thanks, Simon and Yannick. I did check $Orig and the same email at the differnt mailbox has the same id. I’ll try to compare this. Really appreciate.
