Q. Read meeting invitations becoming unread

I send a meeting request, the other person accepts.I reschedule the meeting, the other person accepts the reschedule.

Another reschedule, another acceptance.

I cancel the meeting.

The records that the invitee used to accept the meeting reschedules become unread.

This has become an annoying problem for the meeting organiser because the invitees keep opening and responding to the ‘unread’ meeting invitations.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Q. Read meeting invitations becoming unread

We’ve seen similar behavior in other emails with links. We have a helpdesk application that sends links to help tickets. You read the message and it turns “read”. Some time later, it becomes “unread” again. The only thing we’ve been able to conclude is that it does this because someone updated the Help Ticket.

Seems like an undocumented “feature” maybe?

In your case, I’d advise that people have meeting responses they’ve responded to removed from their inbox. This will prevent them responding again just because it is marked unread. Maybe that will help (unless they’ve just never responded in the first place.)

Also sounds like the meeting organizers might want to take advantage of the “check schedules” feature - that is, if the invitees are updating their calendars. (Sigh…the system is only as good as the users sometimes…)
