Problems with Java Virtual Machine on iSeries

Hi,

I just installed my test server 6.5.1 on iSeries. It worked fine until I decided to install Sametime.

It looks like sametime can only run if http task is running. If I try to launch the http task, I have the following problem that the server isn’t accessible anymore neither from a Notes Client nor from an AS400 Session windows.

I think the problem comes from the mix between HTTP and the sametime installation. I think the Java Virtual Machine also isn’t innocent in this #*ç# problem…

Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks in advance for your answer…

PS: I tried to change the port number, nothing changed. I also changed the session authentication (SSO), doesn’t work better…

If you are running V5R1 there are some significant PTF’s and a new JMV that need to be installed. I had a similar problem, but was able to fix it by ordering the latest group ptf for Java. I also had to call IBM to order JDK 1.4 (on cd - free). Once JDK 1.4 was installed, the Java group ptf loaded and an IPL. Everything worked great. If you are running V5R2 you will need to do the same thing, but JDK 1.4 is already on the V5R2 cd’s.

Hope that helps…

Good Luck…

Thank you very much for your answer. It seems to be a good idea…

I have the JDK 1.4 installed and we are in V5R2… What do you mean exactly by loading the Java group ptf ? Which ptf do I exactly have to load ?

Thank you in advance for your post !

Hello,

The group ptf for v5r2 Java is SF99169.

These Group PTF’s are not part of cumulative PTF packages. You can go to this IBM site for more info.

http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.NSF/GroupPTFs?OpenView&view=GroupPTFs

If you have JDK 1.4 already loaded, I’m guessing that you are in need of the group ptf package for Java.

Good Luck…
