Problems with Author access and Userroles

I’m a developer trying to figure out why the security on one of the Notes Databases here got completely borked. Heres my situation:

The 2 problems:

  1. Author access no longer works for all clients upgraded from 5.x to 6.5.1. It still works for people who have NOT been upgraded. The users are able to create documents. Under “Creator” in the document properties, the name is correct, but when that user tries to edit the document it says they are not the creator and won’t allow them to. Again, this is ONLY happening to users who have been upgraded.

  2. Userroles do not seem to be working correctly. I have 5 userroles on my entry in the ACL. All are checked. If i go to Effective Access and enter my name, those roles show up. BUT if I go into the database and look at the Security Key tab, it shows NONE of those roles listed. Furthermore, I have the creation of certain documents based on having these roles, and even though the ACL has me listed as having those roles, I cannot create documents with that form.

I’m wondering if there is a missing admin piece. The server is 6.0.3. The clients that this is bugged on are 6.5.1 AND 6.0, and the client versions it works properly on is 5.x.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Am working diligently with the notes administrator to get things working properly and could use a nudge in the right direction if anyone has any insight.

U working on a local replia? If so, switch on ‘Enforce consistent ACL’ in the ACL setting for the db…

Thanks for the response –

Unfortunately we already tried that. Actually the database is on the server but since it was acting like the roles didn’t exist and thats the same behavior that the Enforce Consistent ACL fixes, we tried that but it did not help.

Since my original post we’ve also upgraded the server to 6.5.1 but still to no avail.

Have you ran compact task on the database to change ODS version? Hope it helps.
