Problems when customizing bookmark outlines

Hi!

We have a customized bookmark.ntf which we have used to replace the users lokal nsf-files. Now we need to replace some of these customizations due to changes in Domino 6. However, we have found two problems that occur:

  1. When a new bookmark.nsf is created from a template on Domino 6 there is a great number of outlines added. Most of them are marked to prohibit design refresh (For example “UserToolbar” and “UserBookmarkOrder”). However, when an existing bookmark.nsf (version 5) is copied to the Data catalog and the Notes client is started all the outlines are added but none of the new elements are marked to prohibit design refresh. The problems this leads to is that the next time we refresh the design of the bookmark.nsf it will remove all the new outlines that doesn´t exist in the template! This will, among other things, lead to errors regarding the Notes client being unable to find the Toolbar, which I´ve seen others pointing out on this site.

Is this a bug or is there a reason for the bookmark update to act in this way?

  1. We have a customized “UserBookmarkOrder” template. Now we need to change this. I´m trying to make the changes in the “UserBookmarkOrderTemplate” outline in the bookmark.ntf and replace the bookmark.nsf with the new design. However, the “UserBookmarkOrder” outline doesn´t inherit the changes from the “UserBookmarkOrderTemplate”. Instead it remains the same even after the replacement.

Does anyone now why this update can´t be done and if I can get around it in some other way than creating a script that runs on every users workstation?

Thank you!

Magnus
