Problems setting up a freshly installed Notes client 14FP2 on Sequoia MacOS 15.0.1

We are facing problems in setting up a freshly installed Notes 14FP2 client on MacOS 15.0.1. Upgrading an already configured client is fine, but setting up a new client fails to connect to a server with:

It smells like a new security restriction for applications using network connections on MacOS 15.0.1 Sequoia.

Can someone confirm that there might be a problem with the new MacOS 15.0.1 or knows a workaround ?

Try to add this variable in your Notes Preferences file on MAC (notes.ini):

[Notes]
Network_Resiliency=0

Yes - this seems to be a nice workaround! Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome, got this in 2008 and back to 14.5 in September 2024 on my test machine, so I've dug into my KB notes database........

@Uwe Brahm I've found an active web link statting about that: https://www.it-knaepper.com/index.php/support/faqs/groupwarefaq/2008-hcl-notes-using-native-vpn-on-macos

Hi @Uwe Brahm ,

Good Day.

This issue has been already reported to our development team through SPR # AYAVD778QH.

Information regarding this issue is available in the following technical document.

Title: Notes first launch issue observed on macOS 15 Sequoia
URL: https://support.hcltechsw.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0116156

The workaround is to restart the client again and it works.

We will update the above article with the exact fix release very soon. Also, we will update the above technical documentation once the bug is fixed.

If restart doesn't work you may also try off initial troubleshooting you can rename Expeditor folder under (~/Library/Application Support/IBM Notes Data/Expeditor) then check the issue.

Believe this information is helpful. Please mark this question as answered and helpful if this answered your query.

Thanks

Hi Pratap,

I do not think that the technote refers to the problem. Please note that we are using MacOS 15.0.1 not 15.

Also, the client starts and is running fine. It only can not connect to the server in case it was not setup before and was not configured. If it was already configured for a user, the client has no issues so far with MacOS 15.0.1.

From my point of view this is not a client launch issue. It's a network connectivity issue when the client needs to talk to the Domino server for the first time when setting up a user.

Regards,

Uwe

We also have the same problem with clients that are already installed. The connection to the Domino server works from outside with VPN. The client starts and is running fine.

Regards

Sabine

I have the same issue installing Notes 14 client as Uwe does: it fails when the client needs to talk to the Domino server for the first time when setting up a user.

Any movement on this issue?

Thanks,

Trey

Hi @Trey Harris ,

Greetings.

You may refer to below KB article and try off workaround recommended to get rid of this issue.

The Notes client is unable to connect to the local network on macOS 15.0.1

https://support.hcl-software.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0116799

I believe it may fix connectivity issue..

Thanks

Thank you, Pratap, but the linked article does not address my situation exactly. When installing Notes 14.x on Sequoia there is no "Allow HCL Notes to find devices on local networks" or for Eclipse. When going to System Settings there is no HCL or Eclipse listed to allow local network access.

It seems the Notes installer is not triggering Sequoia to display the dialog box to allow nor list it as an app that is requesting local network access.
