Problems of slownesses

I have problems of slowness with a base of documents. I would like to know what could cause this slowness. This base contains many sights. Navigation in the documents is very long. Are there parameters, configurations which I could apply to accelerate this base. Thank you in advance.

Frederic,

There are so many things you can look at. Search the Developer Network for “performance” and you’ll find some useful articles.

I’ve done performance troubleshooting for many years and I know that it can be tough troubleshooting. Good luck.

regards,

raphael

ps I am slow too, but mostly because I am old and out of shape

  • I presume “sights” is “Views”. Many Views will cause performance issue. Otherwise search as the others suggest. There are many, many, many posts on the subject here.- Hope this helps…

Hi,

it could be anything. What steps did you make to trouble shoot this issue?

We have version 6.5.4. The size of the data bases is 241 Mo. There is 35000 documents. It has an index of 51 Mo and the management of the not read documents is not activated. It contains 75 views of which 20 are private with the first opening and 25 sights are hidden for the research and integrated views. Thanks

You should carefully spell out which actions are slow and which are not. For example if the database opens quickly but a document is slow to open, that is a very different matter than if the database were slow to open but a document opened quickly. These two behaviors suggest quite different things to look at to identify the bottleneck. There is no way to give you helpful suggestions without more specific information.

And what is slow? If a document takes five seconds to open, some people would say that is acceptable, others would say it is slow. So if some action is taking a long time, just say how long that is, and that will allow other people to get a more accurate picture of what is going on.
