Problem with HTTP Task / Authentification

Hi Everybody,

We’re running Domino 7.02 on a Windoes 2003 Server and there is a strange problem with the HTTP-Task and User Authentification from a web browser.

HTTP is used mainly for DWA (iNotes).

Anonymous connections via http are prohibited.

This is whats happening:

When users try to access their mail-DB from a web-broser, the enter the appropriate URL (eg: https://my.server.com/mail/mymail.nsf) and are prompted to enter their username and password. After that, the “iNotes representation” of their mail is shown. so far, so good.

However, this only works as long as the HTTP Task has not run over night. Each morning, when users are trying to log on to DWA, they are promted several times to enter their password for the directories “\mail”, “\iNotes”, and so on. Since I’m using folder security for the INotes directory, the users are not allowed to access their web mail.

But: After restarting the HTTP task (“Tell HTTP quit”, “load HTTP”), everythin runs fine again.

It seems to me that one of hte nightly tasks messes with HTTP.

Did anybody experience something similiar?

Any hint pointing in the right direction will be broadly appreciated!

Thank you,

Stefan
