Problem pasting document links in Notes 9

I recently upgraded my Notes client from 8.5.3 to Notes 9 and am now having problems when I try to paste documents as links.

I am able to copy and paste one document link without any problem, but if I try to paste another document or even the same document again, it just pastes a picture of the Notes icon.

This happens if I right click and select Copy as Document Link and if I try Edit - Copy As - Document Link. I am able to copy/paste as a table and take the link from there, but it’s time consuming.

Has anyone else encountered this with Notes 9?

Hello Amit,

If I paste the document link in an email or inside another database document, I have the problem. I may be able to paste 1 or 2 documents as links, but the rest will paste image icons like this: http://i.imgur.com/eZ4VdPb.gif http://i.imgur.com/eZ4VdPb.gif

When I paste into Sametime, it pastes as a link like in your example.

Hi Kerry

Can you please tell me where are you pasting the link?
As far as I see when we select “Copy as a document link” and try paste in the mail / message, it will show you like “”. If you paste it in the ST chat window it will show you “NOTES://… NOTES://.....”.

Also >>>it just pastes a picture of the Notes icon. You mean to say when you click on that icon, the document doesn’t open.

I’ve run into the same problem… The 2 “work arounds” I’ve found so far when the “Copy as Document Link” pastes just an icon:

  • Not the desired / best way – Save the document I’m working on a draft (if email) and restart Notes. Go back into my draft and paste the next link
  • Go into any document and simply right-click / copy. Now the next time you use the “Copy as Document Link” it should function as normal.
    It’s almost as if you need to clear the clipboard first before you can copy/paste a 2nd, 3rd, etc document link… Weird

I would love to hear if anyone finds a permanent fix for this though. Definitely an annoying quirk.
