Is there any way for a Notes 7 client to get presence and awareness via XMPP or SIP? In the big picture, I’m testing Asterisk as a PBX and it integrates with Jive Messenger, an XMPP IM solution, via a SIP connector. The next step would be to integrate it with Notes, if that is possible.
Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

P.S. If Sametime is required that is NOT an option. We are replacing Sametime with Jive Messenger because Sametime causes our Windows Terminal Services server to lock up. TechNote 1206369 references this problem and contrary to the report, it is still an issue with Notes 7.0 on a Windows Terminal Services 2003 server.

Okay, users will just have to live without presence and awareness in Notes for the time being, and I’ll continue my testing with Zimbra to replace the Notes client.

Just that I’m investigating options that might be a little easier to integrate new functionality into. It’s probably my own lack of understanding of Notes and Domino, but I find it difficult to get where I want to go within its framework. That’s a completely different subject, and I don’t want this to turn into a “Charles hates Notes” thread. If you do want a lengthier explanation please feel free to e-mail me, or start a separate thread and I’ll gladly participate.
