I need renew our Notes system and for planning purposes I need to find out all possible locations for user ID files. As far as I have understood there are several choices: Notes Data directory, Person document, Personal address book?? Any other?
If the ID file is now in the Data directory can it be moved back to person doc. or users names.nsf?
The main goal is to allow roaming for users within the company.

id files can be situated anywhere that the user can see from the PC. I accept that the common ones are the ones you listed but at least one of out departments keeps all the id files in a networked file share.

If you use Notes roaming it will handle creating encrypted copies of ID files for you. If you’re using Windows roaming the best solution is to deploy a multi-user installation of Notes on every computer where users will roam. Personally I’d go the Domino Web Access and web-enabled application route before I tried getting all the Notes client pieces working, but that’s just me.
