POP3 - what am I doing wrong?

We’re a small office and have not needed to use POP3. However, we recently hired a sales rep in another state who needs to access her email via POP3. I enabled POP3 on the server, gave her an internet password, and opened port 110 on our firewall. I successfully configured Outlook Express as a POP3 client and can connect and receive mail from within the office, but she can’t access it from where she is. Am I missing something?

TIA for any/all replies!

PS. She’s using Outlook, not Outlook Express - does that make a difference?

Sounds like a firewall issue. If you are using Secure POP3, you’ll need port 995 open. If you’re not using the secure option, you’ll need to confirm the port number in use. When you have the client open and using Outlook, open a command window and type in “netstat -a”. This will list the open TCP and UDP ports on the client, and what they are connected to. Look for the server’s IP address or hostname and confirm that port 110 is connected. Have the remote user do the same thing and compare the lists. It may be that her client is configured to use a different port.Configure your firewall to report access failures to the server’s IP address and you may also see the problem there.
