We haven’t used POP3 services for quite some time now. We had remote users switch over to iNotes. But pretty soon, a group of us are going to have Treo 650’s and we’ll have to get POP3 service back up and running.
That’s easy enough. The problem is, the last time we used POP3, we were having issues with the SMTP server being used as a relay. In order to allow legit users to authenticate, we had to set up a separate Domino server just for outbound email authentication for POP3 users. Domino didn’t have the ability to restrict relays and do authorization on the same server which I thought was insane, but it had to be done.
Has this changed? Can I authenticate and prevent relays on the same server now? I looked around and saw some ‘authentication’ settings, but in my tests I’m still getting it policy rejects on relays. I’m certain I’m going to have to open up the restrictions on the SMTP controls, but I just want to be sure that Domino 6+ has in place the ability to provide that authentication and block relays.
Thanks
