Hello,I’ve just finished intalling my first Lotus Notes server, Administrator, Client and Designer. Everything works ok!
I just have one question about POP3 and the native Lotus Notes mailing system.
I’ve created a user (let’s call it User X) with a Lotus Notes mail db type. I can send and receive mail from others Lotus Notes users with no problem. Now im ready to configure User X to receive e-mail from my ISP (that is POP3).
Lotus Notes configuration says to create another person document and another mail db. I don’t want to create another person document and more important another mail db.
Is it possible, for one user in the same mail db to receive Lotus Notes mail and POP3 mail ? I dont want to switch from one db to another db.
Is this feasable?
Thanks in advance
SM Jr

Do you want to send internet mail directly to User X? Or allow User X to read mail from the POP3 account on your ISP?
For the former, you need your domino server registered with your ISP, then send the email to the Internet Address registered in the person document. (eg user.x@myserver.domain)
For the second option, set up an account on the Notes client - see the Notes Client Help for details

Thanks Michelle.
I do want to be able to send internet mail to User X (im just not sure what the diference is between directly or indirectly).
Anyway, my first goal is to be able to receive pop3 e-mails from my ISP. Hopefully, it will be in the same mail db and not another db. I’ll look into the Notes Help for that.
Thanks again

Me again.
I just finished creating the account for my pop account and everything works ok!
I can receive e-mail from my ISP (pop) and from native Lotus Notes users (NRPC) all in the same mail db. Just like i want it.
Now, i just need to figure out how to send internet e-mails (i guess its SMTP)
Thanks
