Pocket pc's and Domino Web Access Release 6.5.4

Dear All,

I use a pocket Pc running windows mobile5 and would like to access my work email which uses notes. The company already provides access to notes through Domino Web Access Release 6.5.4 and I use my home pc and Internet explorer to get into this.

I would now like to do the same with my pocker pc but apparently the trimmed down version of IE on PPC’s does not work with Domino web access.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Josh

I have struggled with this issue also. What I have done is go in through the webmail interface and bookmark the actual Inbox URL.

To start, go to www.yourmail.com/yourmailfile.nsf?opendatabase&ui=webmail. From there navigate to your Inbox and bookmark.

The URL I ended up bookmarking was:

www.yourmail.com/yourmailfolder/yourmailfile.nsf/WebInteriorMailFS?OpenFrameset&Frame=NotesView&Src=%2F%2Fmail%2F<mailfile.nsf>

Josh:

As you’ve already discovered, there’s a lot of “stuff” going on with the iNotes template that the micro-browser on your PDA doesn’t know what to do with.

I spent some time on this issue, and have posted some 'iNotes Parts for PDAs" on my Unplugged site.

Basically, I’ve added a couple ‘simple’ views and forms that your micro-browser can understand. Point at these instead of pointing at the normal open and you’ll be all set.

The starting point for the discussion is here:

Thanks both. The first solution didn’t seem to work I got asked for my user name and password and but then got the message that the browser wasn’t compatible.

I then clicked on webmail saw my inbox and folders but when I clicked on one then I crashed back to PPC website.

With the second solution, to be honest I don’t know what to do to implement it.

Sorry. Thank you for help. Can you give any other directions.

to be honest I don’t know what to do to implement it.

For the “iNotes PDA Parts” thing, instructions are in the “Using” document of the download database.

But, bottom line, you will not have much luck hitting your mailfile directly with the micro-browser on your PDA.

Perhaps the real question is 'what do you REALLY want to do?" There are numerous sync products that will allow you to sync your mailfile TO the PDA - and there are several commercial products (like Domino Everyplace) that will allow your PDA to browse to your mailfile.

But, as Bill Gates might ask, “What do you want to do?”
