@Picklist, why is only first value returned, I don't understand!

OK, I created a view.View has total of 4 columns.

Col 1 - Categorised, based on name of project, show multi values is checked;

Col 2 - Sort Ascending, not categorised, show multi is checked;

Col3 - No sort, no categorised, show multi is checked.

Col 4 - No sort, no categorised, show multi is checked.

Then a Picklist looks up to this view and displays 3 of the columns. It picks only the records for the current projects name. Perfect.

However, if you do @setfield to choice, for example, it just returns the FIRST value, not the others. The value returned, eventually, is needed to set a field and the first value is not unique (users may have more than one role on a project)…

Why is only the first value returned?

Here is the picklist. It currently resides on an ‘action button’.

choice:=@PickList( [Custom] ; “” ; “(Copy Of activatesubs)” ; “Select a name, role and substitute” ; “Please select the line which requires substiture activation” ; 2:3:4; Project_Name);

@SetField(“Test”;choice)

This returns the correct values in the Picklist. But if you set a field to choice, it only sets it to the first value!!!

Subject: FORGET IT, I WORKED IT OUT

Hi,Please forget it.

I worked it out.

The columns you specify in the Picklist, e,g, 2:3:4 are not, as I thought, the columns displayed in the picklist box.

Rather, these are what data is actually returned. IN my example, I have specified 2:3:4. It is ignoring (correctly according to notes help) 3 and 4, and just returning the column 2…

So, I just added a new hidden column, with the field I wanted, and asked it to return that instead. The hidden field contains the name of the field that actually needs updating…
