Phantom SMTP Relay Address

We have installed a Domino server for a client. It was originally to send mail to the Internet over a domain belonging to a second client. For political reasons, the mail routing was changed.

Now when starting up the server, a phantom IP address, pointing to a server in the previous domain appears:

“No messages transferred to 123.456.11.33 (host old-server.address.com) The server is not responding.” 123.456.11.33 represents a hard coded IP address entered as the SMTP relay in the connection document.

Mail can be sent from the server with other tools, but Domino keeps insisting on using the “old-server.address.com” address.

Last Friday, we were able to get the mail routing to work. Then this morning after installing the language pack for German and restarting the server, the problem was back. None of the Server documents were changed in the meantime.

NOTE: The client did not provide a clean server for installation. The server is an image copy of a BlackBerry server which taken from the 2nd clients environment. We uninstalled the previous Domino and Blackberry installations before re-installing Domino.

Does anyone have a suggestion where this phantom reference to the non-existent SMTP relay (non-existent in the current environment) could be found?

I have searched the registry and the disk without success. I have also replaced the connection document, the global domain document and the configuration document.

Thanks for any help!!
