Password recovery from id files

I have upgraded a bunch of users from Notes 4.6 to Notes 6.5, most of these upgrades have been successful, with a majority of the users keeping note of their passwords. This made it fairly simple when setting up there new notes environment and keeping their existing profile.

There are however a few users that have forgotton their passwords and i need a way to recover this via their id file. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I guess the IDs don’t contain recovery info if they were for 4.6 users.

Do you have backups of the ID files? Most organisations keep backups of the IDs when they are created, along with the original passwords. This is the easiest way of solving the problem.

Alternatively you could recreate ID files for the users but they won’t be able to access documents (mails) that were encrypted with their previous ID as the ID’s private and public keys will be different. If none of the user’s are set to receive encrypted mail it is likely that this won’t cause them access problems to the vast majority of their emails. Some mails, that are encrypted, will never be accessible again.

Apart from these two options your only other option is to hope the users remember their passwords.
