Passing a doc link

I am creating a new document in database B with a form action in database A. As I’m creating the new document, I’m passing a couple of field values from the original document in database A to the new document in database B.

I’d also like to pass a doc link from the document in database A to a rich text field on the new document in database B. Any ideas?

Sure. Rather than composing the document, create it in the back end first and use EditDocument method to open it. But first fill in the values of the fields, including using the NotesRichTextItem methods to create your doclink. You might need to call Update before EditDocument.

Andre,

Thank you, as always, for your suggestion. You have helped me on more than a few occasions.

I think I already had most of what you suggeseted, but I’m still missing one piece.

I have created a RichText field on the form in database B to receive the doclink, but can’t figure out how to pass the doc link from database A to database B.

Do you have any examples of the NotesRichTextItem method you’ve suggested?

Dim rtitem As NotesRichTextItemSet rtitem = docB.CreateRichTextItem(“Body”)

Call rtitem.AppendDocLink(docA, “your comment here”)

Call rtitem.Update

docB.Form = …

set uidocNew = wksp.EditDocument(True, docB)
