Out of Office Permanently

We have a user who is no longer with the company. The manager wants an out of office message set up informing people that user is no longer with company.

My question (and it might be a stupid question) is how do you do an out of office message without the start and end date there. Your feedback would be helpful as some of you might respond to this situation differently.

Thanks

I’m not sure there’s a way to delete the user without deactivating mail delivery to them. You could create a mail-in database with the internet address of the user, and write an agent to reply to any email received.

Do you plan on having the mailbox open indefinately? I would put a date way out in the future, and put in the remarks that he is no longer with the company. We do this now, and mark it for a month, because after that month, is mail file is archive, and he is removed from the domino directory. I have a feeling that the end date is a required field.

If you leave the persons db and NAB entry for a while, you can create an agent that replies to all recieved email indicating user is gone and/or giving alternate contact information (users replacement, bos, etc). In this case you DON’T enable the OOA. After a set time as mentioned in the previous post, you can delete the user from the NAB and delete the DB.

I would agree with Alton’s answer. I have done this in the past and it works reasonably well.
