Subject: Unable to extend ID Table resolution

Hi

We want to upgrade to 8.5 and did so on a test server. However we are getting the “Unable to extend ID Table” error message. We really need to know if IBM is serious about resolving this ongoing issue (present since at least R5) in further revisions of 8.5.x

The database has:

2.3 million docs

Approx 8000 additions per day

Approx 8000 deletions per day

Setting: Remove documents not removed in the last 10 days and is unticked.

We are probably going to have need for it to grow up to 3 million docs.

Regards

Steven

Please get in contact with IBM Support & open a PMR

apart from that I can only refer to the following documents, which I guess you already found yourself.

Subject: I may have something that can help

Steven,

The type of database you have described is the type most likely to suffer from this problem (high document count, frequent additions and deletions). If you’d like some background on the problem and something that may help you mitigate it, shoot me an email at chads@us.ibm.com.

Subject: Out of office

What is the recommened steps to take to update our out of office from agent to service? We are running version 8.5 client and server.

Subject: Just enable it

Just enable it in the server doc…Clients which are currently out of office will continue to use the agent until they come back.

The next time they enable out of office, the task will be used… as simple as that

Subject: Domino 8.5 32-bit on Windows 2008 Std 64-bit

I received an error when installing Domino 8.5 32-bit on a Windows 2008 Std 64-bit server. The parsing funciton that manipulates the specified Installation / Data directories doesn’t seem to be able to handle the Program Files (x86) name properly. It moves the parend to the end of the full path name. I’ve been told that this should be fixed in 8.5.1, but is there a hot fix so I can move forward?

Subject: Re: 64-bit installation path

I can confirm that this issue is repaired in Domino 8.5.1, however your question regarding a hotfix is more difficult. In short, an installation of a hotfix requires that a pre-existing version of Domino already be installed on the system.

This is certainly a fix to look forward to in 8.5.1.

Subject: New LDAP Fields/functions

Domino 8.5 introduces some new fields for LDAP queries. Are these fields available as soon as the Domino directory is upgraded or does the entire server need to be upgraded to 8.5?

Subject: New LDAP attributes

Here is a list of additions in recent history to LDAP attributes below. All of which require code upgrade to the specified version in order to use.

From R8 to 8.5 we added the following:

“dominoCertificate”

“dominoUserIDFilePath”

From R7 to R8 we added:

“dominoAccessGroups”

“dominoMajMinVersion”

“dominoVersionNumber”

From R6 to R7 we added:

“displayName”

Subject: New Features in Domino 8.5

  1. Domino 8.5 have SMTP annonymous as well as SMTP authentication features, but only one user name and password is allowed. If the server is use as SMTP authentication server then for my external user how different user and password is use.

  2. In the DWA login page the page is coming blank with the user id and password option and a (x) mark with Lotus iNotes Login Screen. After checking found that the error on page is coming in line 19. How I will get the beautifull splash screen (yellow color).

  3. There is also a push mail service is available in Domino 8.5. How I will configure that.

  4. How I will configure mail access for mobile/iPODs.

Subject: 1.) SMTP Auth

  1. this option is intended for customers that need to authenticate before relaying mails to a prover’s SMTP server. Your clients will drop mails to your server (based on authentication options you set there) and your server will then relay further to your provider. The account you specify in the conf. doc is not changing the “from” field in the users mail.

Subject: Domino 8.5 new Features

  1. Is there any issue to use DAMO 8.0.2 with 8.5.

  2. What are the open caveat in Domino 8.5. Where I can able to view that.

Subject: Domino 8.5.1?

Any word on the release date and features for Domino 8.5.1?

Subject: Re: 8.5.1

IBM’s planned release is the second-half of 2009. Please keep an eye out for a more definitive date here:

Subject: 8.5.1 available

Fix pack 1 is available now.http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=463&uid=swg21358469#4

Under available fixes you can downloaded it.

Subject: That’s FP1 for 8.5 not 8.5.1

That is only the Fix Pack for 8.5 not 8.5.1.

Subject: Shoud I install technote about Java applets to Domino 8.5 FP1? (TN 1381298)

Good morning!

Please, I would like to certify if I shoud install technote below to Domino 8.5 FP1.

I believe it is not necessary because it comments:

Q: Will this be corrected in a future release?

A: All future releases shipped after May 1st 2009, will include applets signed with a new certificate good through May 2012. This will include 8.0.2 FP2, 8.5 FP1, and 8.5.1.

Additionally, time stamping will be implemented which will suppress warning dialogs even after May 2012 on browsers running JVM 1.5 and above.

Technote:

Security certificate expiration messages generated from Domino applets (May 18, 2009)

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21381298

By other side, my question is because the other technote included is not clarified about when we install 8.5 with FP1.

So, my question is:

Should I install technote below (4022981) if I install Domino 8.5 with FP1 ?

Or is it already included in this version and is it not more necessary to install this technote ?

Download re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino (May 18, 2009)

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=swg24022981

Then, can I consider the second technote is not necessary to install because the first is not necessary also ?

Does the second technote inherit the comments from the first ?

Thansk in advance

Odilo
