OLE object as default value for RichText field

Is it possible to have OLE object as default value for Rich Text field? or

Is it possible to extract OLE object from the form design and copy it to Rich Text field?

===== more details why such questions ======

In particular case when new notes document is created it should contain specific excel worksheet (i.e. template), where user enters some information.

However, this worksheet template changes from time to time. Old documents should remain with that previous worksheet form, but newly created docs should use the latest worksheet template.

Having embedded worksheet object with UpdateFromDocument = True would be fine if the worksheet object design never changes. But if it is changed, then change affects all documents what is not acceptable in my case.

Therefore I am considering the scenarios that by creating new document the actual (latest) worksheet template object is taken from somewhere and copied to rich text field.

The problem is – where from can I take this worksheet object (or where it can be stored)? It would be easy to copy it from another document’s rich text field or from disk location. However I need to distribute this new worksheet object using design refresh, but not by updating documents.

Not sure whether my explanation of the problem is very clear, but I would really appreciate any ideas. (or probably there is much more simple solution…)

PS. sorry for double posting … this is for R5 server and I have posted it in Notes 4 & 5 forum, but considering that more folks here I am putting it here as well

I do this sort of thing all the time with what we call a “master document.” it’s one of your suggestions where you have a view of master documents (or, in your case, it looks like just one document), and each master document contains a rich text field with an embedded OLE excel spreadsheet. and you write script code to grab, and make an object out of, the latest one. I don’t understand why you need to distribute new worksheet object using design refresh. just storing the worksheets in “master documents” will work just fine.

Yes, right now I am doing exactly that way – grabbing OLE object from “master document”. But in my case this is not very convenient, because not always I have access to DB documents and to distribute new OLE object I should send it by mail and somebody should manually update respective “master document”.

Therefore I would prefer if this OLE object update could be performed on design refresh (in addition, usually OLE object change includes also LS changes for data handling in this object – so design refresh is required anyway).
