I have NotesSQL 3.02g and have been using it to extract views into MS Excel from a Notes client application we have created. It has worked very well, with one exception.
One server instance is deployed in Japan and text is entered in Japanese. When I bring these fields into Excel via ODBC, any Japanese characters are converted to dashes (i.e. “平成18年度上期…” becomes “··18·······························”).
Is there a way I can deal with this and preserve the Japanese text when I pull it via ODBC?
A possibly related question … all numeric values come in as text strings and need to be converted to numbers in Excel (i.e. via val() ). Can this also be addressed?
Thanks for advice and insights!
