NotesSQL causes a 998 error on ODBC manager

Hi y’all,

I’m having trouble with my NotesSQL installation. After upgrading to 6.5.1 and now 6.5.3, my NoteSQL (3.02g) fails when trying to connect to Notes … Actually, it fails no matter what I try to do with it.

Just entering the ODBC manager in Windows, causes the following message:

“The setup routines for the Lotus NotesSQL driver (*.nsf) ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 998.”

…followed by…

“Could not load the setup or translator library”

What is going wrong? I’ve tried to reinstall NotesSQL several times, but without any changes in its behaviour.

Please help :o/

It sounds like NotesSQL can’t find or finds an incorrect notes.ini file. Please check the Event Viewer in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools applet and make sure Application Log is selected. Look to see if NotesSQL is listed in that list and, if so, follow what it says to fix the problem. If it’s not listed there, do a search for notes.ini on your system, it is possible NotesSQL is finding an incorrect one.

Make sure that the path to the Notes program files are listed in the Windows environment path … eg… c:\notes
