NotesRichTextNavigator in 7.0.x -?

I’m trying to fiddle with richtext items.

After much trial and error, I can’t think of yet another method to create a NotesRichTextNavigator and thus I finally ask for your few cents of wisdom.

What happens: On a existing, opened for editing document with a number of rich text fields, I run the following agent in debugging mode:

Sub Initialize

Dim uiws As New NotesUIWorkspace

Dim doc As NotesDocument

Dim rti As NotesRichTextItem

Dim rtn As NotesRichTextNavigator

Dim rtr As NotesRichTextRange

Set doc = uiws.CurrentDocument.Document

Forall i In doc.Items

	If i.type = RICHTEXT Then

		Set rti = i

		Set rtn = rti.CreateNavigator

		Set rtr = rti.CreateRange

		Stop

	End If

End Forall

End Sub

Whenever it hits the Stop statement, both the rtn and the navigator property of the RichTextRange rtr are Nothing. The richtext items have various lengths and text properties, making it very likely that they aren’t empty.

This happens in both 7.0.1 and 7.0.2.

Am I missing something or is this really a bug?

Thanks for your feedback

OK, it’s a bit embarrassing, but…

The NotesRichTextNavigator has no properties, thus the only way to check object creation in the debugger is to define the object reference variable to be of type variant instead of of the final type. This bypasses compile time type checking but will still be subject to runtime type checking.
