Notes won't run due to 0xc0000142 Windows error. Also, ndglnmem.dll

I was doing some work in Domino Administrator when something went wrong. I tried to restart Notes but it wouldn't start, instead producing a Windows 0xc0000142 error. I tried starting in Standard Mode, Basic Mode, and after stripping notes.ini of all but the first few lines. Can't get past the error.

Researching the error code, it seems the only solution is to reinstall the affected program. I plan to do that just as soon as I can get admin rights to the workstation. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if anyone else has been affected by this error and, if so, how you got past it.

Second question: This workstation (owned by a client corporation) is running Notes 11.0.1FP5. When I opened the notes.ini file, I noticed that it ExtMgr_Addins=DGLNMEM. I don't recognize the DLL name and can't find it in searches. It isn't running on my personal workstation. Does anyone know what ndglnmem.dll does or where it comes from?

Thanks for reading!

Hello Rob,

Regarding your second question, the ExtMgr_Addins=DGLNMEM, such parameter might be related to some antivirus/anti-malware scanners.

Also for error message Windows "0xc0000142" seems to be windows related error. Found below two blogs which talks about some Antivirus program is preventing application to load or a corrupted or missing system file.

You can first try to remove/disable the ExtMgr_Addins=DGLNMEM and check if you are able to launch the notes application. If it still does not solve the issue then you might needs to reinstall the Notes application.

So, it turns out that the Trend Micro Security Agent, running on the workstation, is preventing Notes from running. Once Notes starts up, it runs. But it won't start up if TMSA is running. Also, dglnmem.dll is a Trend Micro DLL.

The client is escalating my problem to the Level 2 support people.

Thanks Rob for sharing this information.

Thanks for the update Rob.

Please feel free to update here in case any further assistance is require on this.

And Level 2 Support uninstalled, reinstalled, updated Trend Micro Security Agent on my laptop. And now Notes works properly again. And I guess TMSA got corrupted somehow. Support says that nothing about this issue appeared in any TMSA logs, so they don't plan to notify Trend Micro of the incident.
