Hello. If somebody has a minute, I am trying to replace appenddoclink so Notes can be launched from, well, I’m testing with Hotmail but eventually from Outlook. I recoded the script to append the below url, for example, to the email…
notes://SERVER004/__852576CB006086F3.nsf/0/4F633121DF67A9788525765C0056C2FC?OpenDocument notes://SERVER004/__852576CB006086F3.nsf/0/4F633121DF67A9788525765C0056C2FC?OpenDocument
however, in Hotmail, although it comes across as a link and the pointer appears when hovering over it, nothing happens. If I paste it into the browser address bar, notes and the document launches. Does anybody know why this is? Thank you very much.
Subject: thank you Chad…
that is great reassurance. The blank tab wasn’t mentioned by the customer either but I needed something a little more concrete. I’m reluctant to move my browser up to IE 11 from IE 8 as I have a pending deployment and I’m not sure if all the users are on IE 11 yet. Your test helps me a lot.
Did you get the box where it asks to “Choose an application”…it defaults to Lotus Notes…with the “Remember my choice for notes links” checkbox? Maybe you already did that at an earlier point and it does “remember”. I don’t see that box in IE 8 either. Thank you so much again.
Subject: If I got that prompt, it would have been some time ago
The only thing I see is this:
Subject: the notes:// link works ok in Outlook, however…
it seems to open a new blank IE window each time a notes:// notes:// link is accessed. Then I have to close it manually. Would anybody know how to eliminate this? Is it an IE setting somewhere? thank you so much.
Subject: I don’t think there is a way to stop that.
I hope there is as I have been trying to find one for years.
Subject: I’m not seeing the blank tab in IE11
I click the Notes URL link, and after a security prompt asking me if I want to open the application, it opens in Notes with no blank tab.
Subject: Chad, you are opening link from Outlook web in IE 11, right?
I was all confused between Outlook local client and Outlook lite (via IE). I figured out how to synch local Outlook with the server then I eliminated the warning through a registry key so I think local client is ok.
But that IE 8 is opening that blank tab. I just wanted to make sure you were opening the link in IE 11 as my customer was using he local Outlook client when I thought it was Outlook Lite (via IE 11). thank you again.
Subject: Yes, using IE 11 <>
Subject: yeah, it must have been done a million times with all the legacy systems
Do your users have to manually close that blank notes//: staging window?
I would figure there’d be a million gripes about this.
Subject: I just heard IE 11 user did get the blank tab but I’m going to concentrate
on handing the security warning messages. I managed it with the Outlook client but not sure if I can get IE to trust notes:// notes:// protocol.
I’ve tried all variations in the IE Security-Intranet, Trusted Sites, etc settings…it doesn’t like notes://* notes://* as a trusted site…
