Notes Single Logon password synchronization

I just got upgraded at work to the R7 client (no comments pls) - V7.0.2.

I have work duties that involve frequently switching to other password-protected Notes IDs. Now with the R7 client I’m getting a new prompt each time I switch:

Notes Single Logon password synchronization - Your Windows password does not match your Notes password. You may change your password at anytime via File - Security - User Security. Would you like to change your Notes password immediately after logging in? OK / Cancel

How can I turn off this prompt??

It is a service called Lotus Notes Single Logon. Turn that service off and set it to Disabled, if you can. I can do that then you can also, just go back into the setup of Notes via Add/Remove Programs and select Change and once the install program comes up, de-select the Single Logon feature. And that will solve your issue. Just remember that you will now be prompted for your password each time to switch ID’s.

My suggestion is to just change the password of the ID file to match your Windows password. Done. The prompt never come up again.

I installed Lotus 7 and facing same problem, I feel that this feature handling (putting on or off) should be easier rather than going back to setup. Notes single logon password synchronization feature is good , but annoying for some like case in question.

Subject: How to disable without uninstall - Notes Single Logon password synchronization

From R7 client help.

To disable synchronization

  1. Choose File - Security - User Security.

  2. Click Security Basics.

  3. Uncheck “Login to Notes using your operating system login” under "Your Login and Password Settings."You do not have to change your password. Once you disable the synchronization, you have to enter your password when you login to Notes, rather than being able to open Notes without entering a password.

To enable synchronization again, check “Login to Notes using your operating system login,” and make sure that your operating system and Notes passwords are the same.

Note If Notes imposes a password history requirement (choose File - Security - User Security), click Security Basics, then click the “Change Password” button for information on your password history), then you may have to choose a new Notes password. Notes changes your operating system password to match.
