I’m learning 8.5 [Revision 20081211.1925 (Release 8.5)
Standard Configuration]
My windows crashed last week, and I had to reinstall it. I always have 2 partitions, so programs on D: remains.
After Windows reinstall, I also start Lotus Notes install to the same directory that was before (D:\Lotus\Notes85). Just to rebuild any registry info.
I had Shared Login configured.
Now, when I start Lotus Notes, I had an error:
“Notes shared login failed with this ID file”.
Is there any way to force password login? or rebuild registry information regarding shared login?
Any line in notes.ini ??
This is id of my main administrator, so I can’t log to directory to change policies - and this is the only way I can think could work.
Of course this is test server, so I always can rebuild everything, but just curious for the future…
Subject: Was the Windows profile directory for your test admin lost?
Notes Shared Login creates a file in the current user’s Windows profile directory which is needed to unlock an NSL-enabled ID (e.g. on my system the file is in the directory: “C:\Documents and Settings\djamrog\Local Settings\Application Data\IBM\Lotus Notes”). Without that file, an NSL-enabled ID cannot be used.
This is one reason why we strongly recommend that a password-protected copy of all ID’s be saved as a backup. For example, if you had used the ID Vault to backup your ID’s, you could recover from this problem by simply deleting the NSL-enabled ID on your local system (and setting a password on the ID in the Vault, if one had never been set). The next time you started Notes as your test user, you would provide the password and the Vault would automatically download a new copy of your ID.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
