We have this ongoing problem at work. A file is generated from finance system is placed in FTP server. Using lotus script Notes scheduled agent connects to FTP server to open the text file to update / process notes documents.
Basically the following code is used to connect to the server.
taskId% = Shell(docProfile.Connect_FTP(0), 1) & the value of Connect_FTP is
net use w: \Server name\foldername /user:sname\admin ADMIN /PER:NO
It always gives the error as file not found to process notes documents while the file exists. When the same agent is manually run it works successfully. I am not sure what is causing the schedule agent to give the error. We have development & admin as two separate departments. I am Lotus Notes designer. Is there any programming change need to done in order for the scheduled agent to work successfully.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Subject: Notes scheduled agent could not find file in server
been asked and answered many times. do a search here for UNC path and you should get many results. Basically when the agent runs on a schedule it runs as the local user acct running the domino service and this cannot see UNC paths.

Thanks for your response even it has been posted multiple times. Domino admins revert back the problem to me notes designer saying that code need to be changed since ID the agent is signed with has rights to do the task. Currently trying to pin point the issue in order to resolve. I am designer I am not sure how to express / understand so that I tell to an domino administrator.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the ID used to sign the agent has nothing to do with your problem. the problem is at the OS/network level. the domino server runs under a system account. if that system account does not have access to the file system then your agent will fail. further, I recently had an agent that worked fine for years using FileCopy. One day it just stopped working getting the error, file not found, although the file was there and all permissions to the destination file and folder were wide open.

Thanks for response back and I appreciate very much. We have the same situation as yours. Notes admin says the Id has rights to run & the network person says the folder is wide open. How your issue was resolved? Is there any coding to be changed from design aspect or what needs to be changed from OS/Network side? We use windows XP.

I was not able to resolve the problem within Notes. I had to create a scheduled task on the server to do the filecopy using a .bat file. I then coded my agent to check the modified date on the file to make sure a new copy was present before running. If you have support with IBM you may want to call them and ask for advice. It seems that sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

Thanks again. In the same agent I tried to copying to domino server using Filecopy such as Filecopy fileName$, BackUpfileName$
It worked for a while & stoped. When filecopy is used I was unable to run manually so commented the code. I am not sure about coping using .bat file never did that before. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
