Notes R6 client hangs when clustered fileserver fails over

Hi all,

We’ve got something funny going on with Notes R6 clients who have the DATA-folder on a drive mapping that is located on a clustered fileserver.

When the fileserver fails over to another node, active Notes clients produce errors like “network path not found”. Also, Notes hangs after this and we need to really kill the task. Very annoying. It looks like Notes, besides using the drive mapping, also creates a seperate connection to fileserver node, and since this connection fails over to another node, the connection is lost and Notes can’t handle this.

Anybody had this before and was able to fix it?

Thx,

Bart

The above configuration is not a supportable option. IBM do not recommend that this approach is used for storing client files.

The following URL explains this

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=474&uid=swg21086958

There are a couple of options on this

  1. Look at storing the files locally and then copying them up to a fileserver for backup.

  2. Use some corporate desktop utility to build the desktop, names, bookmarks etc each time someone logs on.

A bit of a late update but I hope it is helpful anyway.
