The server document can be used to restrict what gets logged. It’s on the HTTP tab under Exclude From Logging. There you can exclude all hits from an IP address or subnet. One problem is there is almost no documentation on these settings so there is a degree of trial and error involved. This is a section of the server document that very few people do much with but can make a hugh difference in the amount of data collected by the HTTP Logging task. Filter out images, jpgs etc.
The next step is to turn the Hits in Domlog.nsf (or the text files) into something readable by we poor humans. That is where our product Workflo!log Analyzer comes into play. It is a 100% Notes/Domino database that decomposes the Domino URL and drills back into the design to return actual information from the documents hit. So it will return that it was the Blue Widget document that was hit rather than Products.nsf/1b3c7dd44d…
Plus because once a document is processed by the Log Analyzer it is no longer needed in Domlog you can further reduce the size of the database. We have the Space Saving settings on our Domlog.nsf set at 7 days. Anyway, you might wantto take a look at our free demo at http://wfs.com/workweb/wfsweblib.nsf/Src/DocSet*Notes+Net07
