I have a user that is reporting that they are using Notes 6.5.4 and they don’t have a notes.ini file.
Is this possible?
Or, should I tell them to do a global search of their drives to find the notes.ini file?

Notes without a notes.ini file won’t start. The notes.ini file can be anywhere, though. One thing to check is the launch icon, which starts notes, and look at the ‘Target’, it usually looks like so:
D:\Notes\notes.exe “=D:\SomeFolder\notes.ini”
In the case of a roaming user, the notes.ini file is in the user’s personal user directory, like
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName.…

What the previous respondant said is true. The Notes client will not start without a Notes.ini file. I would open Windows Explorer and do a search for it. It may be in the Windows directory itself…
