Hello everyone,
I’ve noticed when running the Notes 8.5.1 full client in Basic mode the built-in Sametime client is not available.
Is there something I’m missing?

Good Afternoon Patrick,
The Basic Client is designed to be used as a lighter Client and does not have the built-in sidebar for RSS Feeds, Sametimes, etc. To utilize the Built-in Sametime, the Full-Client is to be used.
If you want to use the Basic Client, you can use the External Sametime Chat.
There is the Built-In Instant Messaging in the Basic Client though, is this what you are referring to?:
If so, let me know and I will respond with further information.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help Patrick!

-Bob

Subject: Full running in basic
Hi Robert,
Yes, I remember that in the basic client. But when running the full client in ‘basic mode’ (nlnotes.exe) it’s not there.
Subject: Correct
Good Afternoon Patrick,
I see your latest comment was “Delete me” and I wasn’t sure if it was a note to the Admins to delete the thread or the last comment, etc. I just wanted to clarify that the Built-in features are not available in the Basic Client or nlnotes.exe. nlnotes with the Full-Client Installation is available to run so that you have a “lighter” Client available that is similar to the Basic Client (they’re not exactly them same). Often times, people install the Full-Client with the intent to Upgrade their Hardware/machine soon to support the Full-Client and don’t want to have to deal with installing, and then reinstalling once their machines are upgraded, etc.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help Patrick!
