I wonder if anyone else has seen this problem. It was driving me crazy - I couldn’t figure out why notes would start when in the office but not remotely.
Basically the notes client doesn’t start when the VPN client (Cisco v 4.6.00.0049) is connected. What happens is the splash screen displays for a while, then disappears. Nothing else happens. A check of the taskmgr shows that nlnotes.exe is running and nfileret.exe is also running. Cpu usage is at 0%… If I disconnect and kill those processes and retry, notes starts fine.
Subject: I get something similar with AT&T VPN
I need to use the AT&T VPN client to access a customer’s network. After setting up the connection, I then start Notes. As you mentioned, nlnotes.exe and nfileret.exe just sit (apparently) idle for minutes. Notes does eventually become active, but the delay appears to be getting longer (around 10 minutes now). My laptop has a fast processor and 2GB RAM, so it’s not a resource issue.

Subject: VPN & PPTP - Crash Notes
Any updates on this? I am seeing the same thing, using a watchguard firebox, having problems with VPN and PPTP. Notes Loads, but then crashes. Did not have this problem until upgraded clients to R8.
