the user used to log onto the local machine no matter where he was, now he’s logged onto the domain instead, and Notes says it can’t find the directory when he loads it. The data folder is in the Lotus\Notes folder and the .id file is there.

that worked in 2 of the cases, but its not helping in the other. All of the files are Read-only, and if I make them writable, it makes them Read-only again.
